Dr. Syed Adeebul Hasan Rizvi

“Dr. Syed Adeebul Hasan Rizvi is one of Pakistan's most distinguished transplant surgeons, philanthropists, and humanitarian leaders. An alumnus of D.J. Sindh Government Science College, he founded the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), transforming it into one of the world's leading centers for free kidney and organ transplant care. His lifelong commitment to providing quality healthcare regardless of a patient's financial status has earned him national and international recognition, including the Ramon Magsaysay Award and Nishan-e-Imtiaz.”

Sindh Government Science College, Karachi**, where he completed his **Intermediate in 1979** before pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at NED University of Engineering & Technology. He later earned two Master's degrees from Stanford University, USA. Currently serving as the **Chief Minister of Sindh**, he is recognized for his leadership in governance, infrastructure development, education, and public service.”

“A Lifelong Bond with D.J. Science College My journey with D.J. Science College began soon after high school, and it has remained one of the most meaningful relationships of my life. It was here that I pursued my Bachelor of Science (Honours) before earning my Master’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Karachi. Soon afterward, I had the privilege of joining the Zoology Department at D.J. Science College as a lecturer—my very first teaching position. While teaching there, I continued my academic journey and completed a second Master’s degree in Parasitology (Zoology) from the University of Karachi. Life then took me beyond Pakistan when my late husband, Zafar Khan, accepted a position with the Asian Development Bank in the Philippines. We spent seven wonderful and peaceful years there before he joined the World Bank, which brought our family to the United States. In the U.S., I resumed my teaching career and spent 28 rewarding years teaching the International Baccalaureate (IB) Biology program at the Washington International School. Alongside my professional career, I became actively involved with the UKAA, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting the University of Karachi and its affiliated colleges through educational projects and fundraising. Over the years, I have helped raise funds to improve laboratories and educational facilities at several institutions. However, D.J. Science College has always held a special place in my heart. It is the institution where I truly discovered my academic potential, developed my love for science, and began my teaching career. My hope has always been to see D.J. Science College continue its proud tradition as one of Karachi’s leading educational institutions. I am deeply grateful to my generous friends and donors whose contributions, channeled through UKAA, have helped modernize laboratory facilities and strengthen educational resources at D.J. Science College. Their kindness and belief in the power of education have made a lasting difference for future generations of students. It is my sincere hope that D.J. Science College will continue to inspire young minds, nurture scientific excellence, and remain a beacon of learning for many years to come.”
